I can't believe summer is almost over! 2020 has been flying by. I've officially been working from home for 6 months and haven't been back to the office since we left initially in March. It feels really strange that all this time has passed and we will be heading into the fall and winter really soon. To lift my spirts and prepare for the colder months, I picked up a few items in the Sephora welcome back sale.
I've been eyeing all of these items for a while now, but held off on purchasing because I wanted to use up many of my existing products first. Minimalism is one of my values and although I love trying new products, I'm also trying to keep my product collection small. I put a lot of thought and research into these products before purchasing and am really excited to see if they end up working well!
Jack Black Nourishing Scalp + Hair Conditioner - $26.50
I've been a fan of Jack Black products for a long time. I love the lip balm and recently finished the energizing body scrub. The scalp conditioner has excellent reviews and having a dry scalp, I'm always looking for products to help in that area. This one contains tea tree and basil leaf and the size was much bigger than what I was expecting. I believe it will last me a long time! Jack Black products don't contain sulfates or parabens, which is really great.
Huda Beauty Faux Filter Full Coverage Matt Foundation - $32 (on sale, reg price $54)
I tried a sample of this foundation last year and really loved the matte, full coverage look. I hesitated for while on this one because I wasn't able to find an exact match for my skin tone and because the foundation has a very strong fragrant smell. When I saw it on sale, I had to move forward. The colour I picked is a bit on the light side, so I added a few drops of a darker foundation and usually mix with a bit of moisturizer so it doesn't stick to the dry patches on my face. Although it's an oily/normal skin foundation, with these modifications I've been liking it so far!
Anastasia Beverly Hills Mini Brow Kit - $32
This kit came with a trial version of the clear brow gel and an eyebrow pencil. I've been using the full sized clear brow gel for many years, but have never used an eyebrow pencil before. I was really excited to try this one and see if doing brows was something I would like. I've been surprised at how much I love filling in my brows. The pencil is so fine and easy to use. I don't think it's going to last too long though, so I might have to fill in my brows more sparingly!
Sephora Collection Scalp Massager - $13
I love scalp massages. My main criteria for getting my haircut is a good scalp massage. This little tool has been in my loves for just over a year. Since I needed to spend $100 to get $20 off, this one was pretty much free. I've used it a few times now. The bristles are silicone and in two different sizes. It provides a very light and gentle massage that I do before washing my hair.
My favourite part of ordering from Sephora is the option of using my beauty insider points to try new products. This order I picked up two 100 point rewards.
Dr. Brandt Clean Biotic Cleanser - $46 for 105ml full size
I'm in the market for a new cleanser and this one caught my eye because it is a pH-balanced yogurt cleanser with chlorophyll. Chlorophyll has skin healing properties and I thought the yogurt would make it a gentle morning cleanser. I failed to check the price of the full size though and at $46 it's extremely pricey! Hope it lives up to the claims.
Tatcha Silk Peony Melting Eye Cream - $78 for 15ml full size
I love the Tatcha water cream and was excited to try this new Tatcha product! It's in the cutest little container. It's a melting eye cream, so I'm curious to learn more about how to apply it and what makes it different from other eye creams.
Overall, I'm happy with these purchases so far. Only time will tell if they are actually as great as the first impressions. Did you pick up anything in the Sephora welcome back or labour day sales?
